The AAFA Michigan Chapter serves all Michigan residents (of all ages) affected by asthma and allergies. AAFA Michigan also provides resources for health care professionals, caregivers, and child care providers. The AAFA Michigan Chapter works with communities to make them better for those with allergies and asthma.<\/p>\n

In Michigan, almost a million people have asthma. More than 200,000 of these are children. Many miss school and work and visit the emergency room because of the disease. We want to help those affected manage their asthma and allergies.<\/p>\n

The AAFA Michigan Chapter was chosen as a HEAL Innovation site<\/a>. \u200bHEAL (Health Equity Advancement & Leadership) is a project with the goal of building and supporting community-based work to address inequities in asthma. The overall goal of HEAL is to reduce asthma deaths and illness among high-risk populations. HEAL Innovation is a multiyear project with the goal of building and supporting community-based interventions to address inequities in asthma.<\/span><\/p>\n AAFA Michigan hopes to improve asthma control through advancing general health and wellness, access to specialty care, assessment of home environments, and asthma self-management education.<\/p>\n They are looking for 50 people to join in this project to learn what good asthma control means. Along the way, thye will provide tools, resources and incentives aimed at improving asthma control and overall wellness.
